Police of Somalia’s breakaway region of Somaliland arrested 6 people in Borama for Banned memorial of SNM Genocide Borama And Dila


Residents of Borama protested the arrest of more than six youth who took part the mark of 28th anniversary when SNM (Somali National Movement) did genocide Borama and Dila districts on 4.2.1991, more than 1700 people including women and children were killed in 24hours including the Mayor of Borama at the time. The killing was systematic and SNM militants sponsored massacre of Borama and Dila civilians on 4 February 1991.

Demonstrators took to the streets of Borama, burning tires and shouting slogans criticizing the former SNM leaders who curently rule Somaliland  and demand to release all youth who’s in custody. Memorial of  SNM genocide held peacefully and pray for all victims.

Somaliland deployed extra police forces from Hargeisa and situation are intense and security forces searching houses to arrest anti-SNM elements in the Town.

Somalia’s breakaway Somaliland region is under control of former SNM  guerrilla war leaders .They built a Hero statues in Hargeisa, while banning to memorial of  their victims.
