This will be the third event with Henley’s friendship town, Borama in Somalia. Henley has had a friendship link with Borama since 1982 which was formed through local resident, Brigadier Malcolm Page who served there in 1947 and looked after many who were in the Somaliland Scouts Regiment.
Samasonic is currently collecting books for the newly established Public Library in Borama. Please bring books in suitable condition to Mill Meadows to be handed to Samasonic staff. Books of all kinds are required, including fiction, non-fiction and text books (school leavers please note)
Brigadier Page said, “Thanks to the generosity of Lady McAlpine and the kindness of our Mayor, twenty of our visitors will be visiting the Traditional Boat Festival, travelling from Mill Meadows by boat. The finishing time is not firm, it depends on the weather and the energy of our visitors. Please come and support this colourful event, which will attended by Boramans resident in a variety of cities and towns across the UK, including London, Birmingham and Cardiff.”
