A man who lived in central Ohio has died in a terror attack that killed . Abdullahi Isse Abdulle graduated from The Ohio State University and worked to improve the lives of people in Somalia, The Columbus Dispatch reported.
10TV spoke to Abdirizak Ahmed, who worked with Abdulle
“He always had that impression that Somalia one day would be a very peaceful and beautiful country,” Ahmed said. “He knew that he had to contribute to that, but he always knew it was a risk for him to go back to Somalia, but he took it as a sacrifice that if he didn’t do (it), who else was going to do it?”
At least four al-Shabab assailants attacked the Asasey Hotel Friday evening, beginning with a suicide car bomb at the entrance gate and followed by an assault by gunmen who stormed the hotel.
The attack lasted more than 14 hours before troops shot all attackers inside the hotel compound, killing them, Col. Abdiqadir Nur, a local police officer, told The Associated Press.
Somalia’s Islamic extremist rebels, al-Shabab, claimed responsibility for the attack.
